Small Green Shoots is a innovative youth-led charity that champions disadvantaged young people, providing opportunities and training for the creative industries. We believe that art is essential to young people and a great motivator helping them have positive futures.   Our ethos “Educations through Stealth” engages NEET young people, who we empower to lead, learn a range of transferable skills and gain a network that will help them in the next steps of their development. Our “Young Shoots” programme provides access to services, secondments and practical workplace training to support their careers.

These “Young Shoots” decide on our programme and deliver our projects and activities, recruiting other vulnerable young people as audiences and participants along the way.

The grant from the William Wates Foundation will transform our peer-led project “#Fundamentals” which is also supported by Comic Relief.  The William Wates grant will be used to deliver workshops in a range of pupil referral units, hostels and youth charities to ensure that our valuable work destigmatising mental health issues in young people reaches vulnerable people that are most in need of our services and information.
